The path to qualifying as a Pistol Instructor:
- Qualify as a Full Instructor (Red Hat) under the Project Appleseed Rifle Program of Instruction
- Attend an Appleseed Pistol Clinic (APC)
- Shoot a 210 or better on the Appleseed Pistol Qualification Test (PQT)
- Successfully complete a Pistol IBC, led by a Charter Pistol Instructor. The candidate shall attend an APC ahead of attending a Pistol IBC.
Pistol IBC Shoot Bosses will submit the list of attendees to Instructor Promotions and "Mixed Metaphor" on the Appleseed Forum. When a Pistol Instructor candidate earns the required PQT score, the Shoot Boss/Event Lead (in the event of a Pistol mini-seed) will submit the candidate's name and score to Instructor Promotions and Mixed Metaphor. Once validated by Instructor Promotions, the candidate's name will be added to the qualified Pistol Instructor list.
So, if you are interested in becoming a Pistol Instructor and you wear a Red Hat (or are close to earning one), get yourself to a Pistol Clinic and earn your Pistoleer™ patch. The last step is to attend a Pistol IBC. I'll be happy to schedule one if there is enough interest.
