What an incredible Saturday at the RWVA Home Range! Seventeen participants and five volunteers spent the day celebrating the freedoms we enjoy as Americans. The weather was pretty much as expected for North Carolina in July, so we all left the heavy coats in the car. Luckily, the firing line is covered and everyone did a good job staying hydrated making for a fun day on the range.
This was a one-day rifle event which kicked off with some safety instruction before we started going over the fundamentals of rifle marksmanship. Everyone was eager to learn and improve. At lunch, Rimbo started us on our journey hearing the events of April 19th, 1775. We would continue that story throughout the day and learn of the sacrifices so many made to win our liberty.
Our shooting started with the "Hits Count" target (aka Red Coat) and the effective range for the group was right at 150 yards with no one able to clear the target. By the end of the day, in addition to three Riflemen patches, the group's effective range had improved to over 385 yards and 4 shooters clearing the target! That kind of improvement is nothing short of amazing!
In addition to history and marksmanship at 25 meters, we discussed the next step. We heard a brief introduction to the Rifleman's Quarter Mile (i.e. shooting to known distances) and learned about the Seventh Step of the Rifleman. It is my sincerest hope that each of us will take up our duty to preserve our liberties and make a personal commitment to waking up our fellow sleeping Americans.

That's a nice range.
Looks like a good turn out. Seems like a long way to go from Colorado to North Carolina for a 1 day event. Glad everyone had a good time.
