We had a great weekend at NWCSA in Colebrook this past weekend. The weather could not have been better, a great IT crew and awesome shooters to work with throughout.
We had our work cut out for us after the 1st redcoat target and proceeded accordingly with Dry fire, prone SHF's, six steps and NPOA. After lunch and the 1st strike we commenced with IMC and some drills to get groups tightened before going to other positions. By the end of the day we got in an AQT and our first rifleman. Alex, a returning new rifleman from last month backing it up with a 214 score. Nice!
Sunday started well, AQT shooters went on and we worked with the others with some drills to sharpen those who had things to get sorted out. Some equipment issues, rifle changeovers and the tiredness that goes with 2 days of extensive practice. We had Alex fire another RM score with a CF rifle and a border raider form Mass, Todd, with scores in the mid to high 230's. Great shooting!
The shooters were a great group to work with. Even when things looked bleak for a couple they hung in to the end of Sunday, doing their best. HUZZAH!
Randy sent me a follow up email concerning preparations for the weekend, "Recommendations" should be listed as "Recommendations are suggestions only an idiot would not follow". He ran it hard thru the Sunday redcoat nevertheless. Again, an awesome and positive group to have at an event.
scout74 and Parallax did their utmost to help those on the line, as typical. Thank you gentlemen.
Northwestern Connecticut Sportsman's Assn had things ready for us, nothing more could be asked for. The range expansion is almost done and we look forward the our RFKD event there in September. Also thanks to Maryellen for preparing and serving lunch both days.

It was an great weekend and fellow Appleseeders at NWCSA.

One appleseeder used a Mauser in 7.92x57jm all Saturday.
I tried to get a video of him running the bolt during the rapid fire courses of fire, unfortunately the video didn't come out.
We also had a Mini-14 on the line. The rifle was accurate despite the reputation.

Yes, another great event in the books! Participants and the CT crew answered the call. Was a great shoot with many first time appleseeders showng great improvement by the end if day 2. Thanks To. And Ron for a great event!
I'm surprised you didn't get about seven "recommendations" to put the Mini-14 on the right end of the line. I have one, they really launch the brass.
I want to know if the Mini 14 guy shot the score!

Unsure on the mini14 scores, early on we were on squares and getting rifles zeroed. He was working it then. It did launch empties but no one got pelted too badly.
Conversely the guy with the 8mm Mauser was hitting it HARD, shooting 5 to 6 moa with some equally warm milsurp ammo. He didn't return on day 2, prolly recuperating from firing that beast for a day. He did remark to Parallax that his shoulder was sore.
Lying in the open on terra firma, even with grass, had several folks with elbows rubbed raw or on the way. I think that the material the exercise mats used had something to do with that.
