We started Saturday morning with the normal welcome, introductions and moved on to the safety briefing. Rifles were brought to the line and the Saturday morning Red Coat was shot. Results showed we had a great bunch of shooters. One cleared the target, but everyone showed they were ready for the challenge. Congratulations to Todd on earning his Ohio patch.
We moved on to the steady hold factors in prone, followed by the six steps and NPOA instructions. Laser rifles were brought out and the shooters were introduced to real time NPOA on target with actual resetting triggers. Related drills were shot in between the points of instruction and from the first groups shot the squares target, it was evident we had a very special group of potential riflemen and riflewomen.
Breaking for lunch, Naga gave a very accurate account of the 1st strike. After lunch we shot confirming groups and moved on to the steady hold factors in seated which were followed by related drills. The Second Strike was presented by Jiminbolivar at the afternoon break.
This was followed by presentation of the standing steady hold factors with a practice AQT, followed by a score AQT. We had our first repeat rifleman for the event Todd, but we did not know that he was not finished with his plans for the weekend. We wrapped up the day with the afternoon Red Coat. We had 1 person clear the target - Todd showed that he had focused in on the red coat.
This was followed by the Third Strike and the Saturday call to Action.
Sunday started overcast but the sun returned, with more humidity. We started the day with a review of the safety rules and the POI's from Saturday. Rifles were brought to the line and the Sunday morning Red Coat was shot. It was very encouraging that two shooters cleared the red coat. Usually there is a little drop on Sunday morning but this group knew very well what they were about. Congratulations to Todd & Rich.
We confirmed zero's from the day before and performed some NPOA drills, followed by 2 AQT's for score and then broke for lunch
Todd scored an absolutely outstanding score on his 2nd AQT with a 229, Mike right on his heals at 226 Mike and Todd consistently were putting up great scores for the first two AQT, until Todd left the pack in the dust with 240, 240, 243, 238; the distinguished patch was awarded. Congratulation!! Mike also backed his score up with other scores of 226, 224, 216 and 229. Mike eared his rifleman's patch with a solid scores. Congratulation!
Our IIT were in the hunt also; Navy Shooter with 224, 229. Jim with 213, 219
The weather was getting the best of the team so we ended the day a little early with the Sunday afternoon Redcoat. We had 7 of 7 at 100, 6 at 200, 6 at 300, 5 at 400, and 6 joined Daniel Morgan. We had 5 shooters clear the target, that NPOA works
Congrats to all our new riflemen and the distinguished. Our day ended with Todd (yet to get forum name) accepting the orange hat.
I'm looking forward to seeing ALL of you at future events.
