Another great Appleseed has been completed on the famous RWVA homerange in Ramseur, NC. A many thanks to all the shooters and instructors who came and made this shoot a success. We had 32 shooters on Saturday and an additional 2 new shooters show on Sunday. This Appleseed had a majority of first time Appleseeders, which I take as a great sign the message is getting out and Appleseed is growing. Also with this Appleseed there was a few complete families and several pairs of fathers with sons/daughters, I must say I truly enjoy seeing the Appleseed experience shared amongst parents and children. I was impressed with the amount of note taking and questions asked by the shooters this past weekend, especially during the Advanced Rifleman class on sunday morning. The shooters showed a real desire to learn and understand what was being taught to them. It makes for a much more rewarding instructing experience when you have students who want to learn. All the shooters seemed to really enjoy the history, everything from the Three Strikes to Dangerous Old Men. Many pulled up chairs and soaked up all the little known facts of April 19th and the great men of that day. Once again a big thanks to all of our shooters!
As for the instructor corps, a thanks to Thor, DuaneRN, Friedenmeister, MCKNBRD, Hawkeye, and Fred for coming out and making this shoot a success. Everyone stepped up and provided expert instruction in marksmanship and history. I look forward to working with all of you again out on the trail.
Now for the results of everyones hard work. We had 1 repeat Rifleman on Saturday and then on Sunday's first QDAQT we produced 4 new Rifleman! A big congratulations goes out to Jim, Ed, Jeremy, and Michael on their accomplishment. We had several knocking on the door of Rifleman, many 190 and better scores. One gentlemen firing a 209 and 207 back to back. With a little more persistence and practice he will earn his Rifleman patch in no time. Every shooter showed great improvement throughout the weekend with progressing scores on the QDAQT and with hits on the Redcoat. Speaking of the Redcoat target by the end of day one we had more than doubled our hits on the Redcoat headshot and produced 5 times as many 300yd Rifleman! Way to go shooters!
Well that about wraps it up for me. I look forward to hearing from everyone else, shooters and instructors alike on how the shoot went for them. If you took pictures please post them as well! Thanks again to everyone that came out and I look forward to seeing you all again. You made this shoot a success and helped to better our country.
I attended my first appleseed (not my last) at Ramseur, NC.. great bunch of guys..
Especally impressed that they were not heavy handed but very guiding.. Even when we had a somewhat serious breach of Safety they did not berate or embarrass the shooter .. They corrected the situation and proceeded on..
History lessions were very informative and they paced the shooting well..
Facilities were very good
At the end of Saturday I was exhausted but came back Sunday to qualify and did so the first round..
Then going to the Long range we proved all the training at 25 meters did in fact translate to hitting 400 yd targets with open sights..
Guess what I am getting at is Good people, good place, great training (especially good with kids and woman shooters) .. Have no fear this is shometing your whole family can benefit from..
Thanks guys... see you soon with more friends to qualify

Qualify? Oh, you mean on the AQT... I thought you meant as an Instructor in Training.
Shooting the AQT is quicker and easier but you'll have longer lasting and better memories of getting one of those read hats and teaching others to (first) shoot the AQT and (then) become a red hat.
Try it.
