Title: AAR: Appleseed Pistol Clinic, June 11/12 2022 Redmond WA
Post by: GTEngineer on June 16, 2022, 12:07:11 AM
It was my pleasure to run the first Project Appleseed Pistol Clinic last weekend, hosted by Interlake Sporting Association in Redmond WA.  We were joined by several folks who were previous attendees of rifle clinics and all were eager to learn about pistol marksmanship.  Everyone brought along the necessary minimum equipment and with the exception of one issue with a steel case that refused to come out of the chamber of one of the pistols, no other out of ordinary equipment malfunctions occured.

Proper grip, stance, magazine change, target transition, 6 steps, NPOA, talking targets, strong/weak hand shooting were all covered through demonstration and hands on practice.  Everyone paid close attention and asked great questions as we moved along.

By the time PQTs came around, we were able to squeeze in 3-4 PQTs before calling it a day.  Randy came the closest with a 205 and I am certain that with additional practice he will cross that line to earn his Pistoleerâ„¢ patch.

Unfortunately yours truly fell ill from a stomach bug and had to cancel Sunday's clinic, a makeup session has been coordinated with everyone and we will meet again to continue instruction on various failure drills and other topics, followed by many more PQTs.

Thank you for coming out and I apologize about having to cancel the Sunday event on such short notice, I hope you all come back to the makeup session!  In the meantime, take this time to dry practice, dry practice, dry practice.  Practice that trigger press and grip to where the "click" doesn't result in any movement of the pistol.
