The weekend of June 11 & 12 was a toasty one in Middle Tennessee. Braving the impending heat, our enthusiastic shooters showed up at the Stones River Hunter Education Center ready to put in the work needed to be successful.
The shooters were all attentive and fully engaged. They listened attentively to the history and all of the blocks of instruction. After introductions, the First Strike, and Safety Briefing, we moved out to the range.
The pop-up canopies were a blessing and helped give the shooters some relief from the sun. We got right down to business and the "Hits Count" target was a good indication that there were going to be some impressive results.
Most of the shooters had some pretty extensive experience shooting prior to arriving, but to their credit they all had very teachable attitudes and put into practice what they heard and observed.
I was especially impressed with Fred and young James' determination.
By the end of the day Saturday challenges had been identified and the shooters did not let the heat or some equipment issues dissuade them.
Sunday was hotter than Saturday, but the shooters came ready to get down to work. After a review of the blocks of instruction from Saturday, we hit the range.
The teachable attitude and persistence of the shooters resulted in two new riflemen! Huzzah, Marco & Chris!
We also took a fun break and posted a 20" target. The results were impressive.
It is always a joy to have such a great group of shooters. I feel confident that Rifleman badges are in the future for every shooter that attended.
Thanks to our cadre - Tennessee Beast, Black Knight, Eagle Keeper, & Nashville Stage for coming out. It was good to have Palousie on the line on Sunday. Special thanks for SI Cleveland for coming out Saturday, calling the line, and presenting the Third Strike!
Congratulations Chris and Marco, I am sorry I wasn't able to make it Sunday to see you guys qualify but I knew you guys would make it.
James and Fred, you guys improved greatly, I hope to see you at another event soon.
Hats off to BluegrassColonel and crew for having a successful event.
Huzzah,
Cleveland
