Title: Blazer value pack
Post by: Wade on March 21, 2009, 02:29:30 AM
Hey all

I bought some of the blazer value pack 525 in a box and found it to be every bit as good as the blazer in a brick and it cost much less then blazer in a brick O0.

For an inexpensive .22 ammo I really like it .

Hey Wade,

Where did you pick it up?  Any chain store?

...only seen it in the 500 pack of boxes here.

I Agree with you on the CCI Blazer - I went through a boxs and not a stovepipe or FTF.

Recently I couldn't find any locally so I ended up with the (Walmart) Federal valuepack - less than steller.... and a buddy has some remington - he's lucky if he can get through 2 mags without a problem.

I just ordered 5000 rounds in bricks from Sportsman's Guide. $173.63 delivered. Never shot it before. Friday I took a box out and shot a 250 on a aqt!! :~ :~ I think I may place a couple more orders!

I'm looking at that sportsman's guide one right now. You must have had a discount coupon. ;)
Still if you can shoot 250 :o with it 4 cents a round doesn't seem too bad.

I forgot about that. I got the club price and used a $10 coupon. It may have been a sale price too. It was a couple of weeks ago when I ordered it. The receipt is dated 3-1-09.

IIRC, the velocity and bullet weight are the same as the plastic cased CCI Mini-Mag I get at Walmart.  If you can shoot 250 on the AQT, I'd say it's the same stuff. Can you confirm that it works at least as well and consistent as the CCI MM?  If so, I may put in for 5K.

Natchez has the non brick bulk packs here http://www.natchezss.com/product.cfm?contentID=productDetail&prodID=CC10021&lsrc=NZ&src=BE365 (http://www.natchezss.com/product.cfm?contentID=productDetail&prodID=CC10021&lsrc=NZ&src=BE365). They're on sale for less than the bricks from SG however they are not waxed like the bricks. That's the only difference I noticed between them. I haven't fired a lot of the bulk pack stuff yet so I can't yet give it my gold star stamp of approval (the brick stuff has my stamp as I've fired/witnessed fired 1500+ rounds with no issues at all) but so far function is same as the brick stuff: flawless.

Thanks for the heads up.  Say, your forum title looks kinda funny.  You should see someone about that. :)  Congrats again! O0

The Blazer shoots as good if not better in my rifle as the CCI Mini Mag. The Blazer has a waxed lead colored bullet instead of the copper coated bullet of the Mini Mag. As you know, I've used a lot of Mini Mag in the past and still have ***** rounds of it. ;D I've only shot the Blazer twice, and both times have been impressed. Maybe it's just a good match for my rifle. Obviously I was having a better than normal day!

Good enough for me!  I'll put in an order for 5K!

Has anyone gone through the bulk version?

Without the wax I'm wondering if it's any different reliability-wise?

I can't get the old-style brick around here anymore - if these are just as good I'll buy bulk. :))

At the present time, both Sportsmans Guide and Natchez are Out of Stock on the Blaser.  Over at RFC there is an ongoing thread about Wolf .22 orders being cancelled out by SG too.

It is unfortunate that ammo is so scarce these days......I used to go to the store and buy several diferent kinds of .22 ammo to find out " what my rifle liked"......... Some folks cannot do that these days.......

I found out this weekend that my cheap little Mossberg 702 loves Blazer in the 50 box ( I believe the bulk pack is different and a couple of rifles I have shot seem to agree) but doesn't like my favorite "American Eagle" non-plated...On the other hand my Marlin 795 (the new plastic kind) loves "American Eagle"  Oh well....

I found some of the bulk in the 50 boxes. It seems to have changed some - a different plastic holder - also, it doesnt' seem to have as much lubricant.

It's still shooting well though.

I reckon you fellas need to look around.  Ammo availability has improved over here.  I know y'all are sick of hearing 'bout it, but my favorite feed store has Blazer ammo by the brick.  I think it was the 525 bulk pack brick, but I'd have to check.  After reading you folks' positive impressions, I'm gonna pick up a case tomorrow for my pile of Appleseed ammo.  Based on the price adjustment for case lots, I think the Blazer should go for $150 a case, but I'll let you know tomorrow, after I buy mine.
