Patriots' Day shoot!
What a great group of 8 participants we had...all eager to hear the history of April 19, 1775, and to learn the fundamentals of great rifle marksmanship. They were not disappointed.
We were able to begin shortly before 8:30 am since all had arrived and completed registration. The weather was perfect until early afternoon when wind gusts blew away and destroyed one of our canopies, requiring us to remove the others and endure the direct warm (hot) sunshine. But, all helped and we continued with the normal Project Appleseed course of instruction.
While no one was able to record a 210 Rifleman score, Matt and Liston were "knocking on the door". Great to see you both again...your persistence will pay off. Remember, we all started where you are. And, that's true for everyone who came to enjoy this wonderful day together! Darrell and Dennis, you inspired us all by shooting from only standing and seated positions. We at Project Appleseed are eager and pleased to accommodate everyone regardless of their physical limitations. Jon, so happy you could join us for at least part of the day. We hope you will sign up again soon.
Special thanks to my daughter-in-law, Marina, for stepping out of your comfort zone as a brand-new shooter, and also for bringing my granddaughter, Kristen. You both did so well at your first ever rifle clinic! The enthusiasm you both displayed all day long was contagious. Clearly, Kristen "got the bug" since she now wants me to host a Project Appleseed clinic for her friends as her 12th birthday party this month. We'll see if we can make that happen! Comfort levels by you both with rifles increased noticeably as the day progressed.
Larry, you were a trooper all day long. Mastering a scoped rifle, I think you learned, is a bit of a challenge even for an accomplished pistol shooter, right? We hope to see you on the line again soon, sir. Your tenacity was apparent as we progressed to the timed and transition stages of the AQT.
The Memorial Volley was very solemn and well-received by all present. They had heard the Three Strikes and recognized many of the names.
To all participants, do not be the least bit discouraged at your performances on the line on Saturday. Again, we all started where you are. Please spread the word about Project Appleseed and come again soon, and bring a relative or friend with you. The messages of freedom and liberty must be spread far and wide...and quickly!
Stockbreaker and jtdiver, thanks so much for assisting at this clinic. I really enjoyed working with you both. Let's do it again, and again!
Sounds like a great day! Good job everyone!
(Cokeguy, let me know if you need help making Ms. Kristen's birthday wish come true. I love it!)
