Title: April 2-3 Kerrville Tx. Shoot
Post by: A-lister on April 06, 2022, 04:12:10 PM
Well what a great weekend we had in Kerrville! We had 15 on the line Saturday and 13 on Sunday!
Saturday started out with cool but pleasant weather, very little wind and warmed up nicely. The mornings instruction went great and all were very attentive and had lots of questions. Pale Rider and Genx did a fantastic job presenting the 1st two strikes and I followed up after lunch with the third.  :F With El Tejano, Two Wolves and our visiting orange hat Michael jumping in and helping out with everything from instruction to RSO work! Welcome back Michael "previously a green hat" to the Cadre! So looking forward to working with you at many more shoots. He knows his stuff!  O0
We pushed through with the instruction and completed an AQT at days end! And the afternoons red coat was a huge improvement from the mornings. Boy they listened good and applied the new knowledge well!  :---
Day two had us a few shooters short but we had two new late arrivals. They really wanted to shoot. Genx said he would work with them and bring them up to speed. Normally I would not do this because day one is so busy. But one had been to a shoot before
and the other was so excited to be there. Genx did a fantastic job with them and had them ready to do AQTs after lunch. Thats going above and beyond the call of duty! A huge thanks to Greta and her brother Bram our young blue hats who stepped up and filled in to help out on the line and with DOMs! Having active teens working the line is exciting. They are our future!
So day two we got into the AQT grind and had 4 reqalifications and 1 new Rifleman. Congrats to Steven who said that he was struggling day one but got excited when he applied the knowledge of day one and started seeing real results.
To wrap it up, we had a great shoot. It was a little breezy, and the dust on that caliche range was brutal. Everything was coated with layers of fine powder. But we overcame that and pushed on. The heat was bearable at 86dg. and staying hydrated was a necessity!
Thanks to all for a great shoot!
