Title: Palm Bay, FL LADYSEED 12-13 Feb 2022
Post by: JustKim on February 14, 2022, 12:17:58 PM
This was a great Ladyseed, but of course, in my opinion, they all are.  ;D

To start the morning off, we had Melissa lead us all in some Riflewoman Yoga to ensure that we would be more easily able to get into our shooting positions hundreds of times - without the usual soreness.  Thank you Melissa!!

We had amazing women and young ladies show up with very teachable attitudes.  Some were first timers and some were repeat attendees, but I was amazed as always, with the ladies, at how much progress was made!  For instance, Cheryl's scores went from a 74 to a marksman score of 156!  Nadine from 81 to a sharpshooter 177;  Yvonne 99 to a sharpshooter 175; Josie 155 to a sharpshooter 184; Trisha 112 to a marksman score of 167 and Melissa who only shot two AQTs almost doubled her score.  We have several sharpshooters who are knocking on the door shooting a 197 or better: Sarah Beth (197), Jenn (205), Angela (199) and Autumn.  By the way, Autumn is 11 years old and improved her score from 136 to 198!!!  Mom, who out shot her by only one point, better watch out!  I know she couldn't be prouder, however, of being out-shot by her daughter.  It will eventually happen. ;D  These women/young ladies know very well what they are about!!  And Ana, one of our red-hats tried out her brand new rifle on day two and scored not one, but two 224s to re-qualify!!  Jenn and Sarabeth also brought out brand new rifles - so this was their first time shooting these rifles.  CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU ALL!!

The ladies listened intently to all of the great history that was told and asked questions.  All instructors were involved in telling great history, dangerous women and dangerous old men stories as well as providing GREAT instruction as indicated by the increasing scores.  By about mid-day two, it was difficult to find opportunities for instruction -- just some fine tuning and allowing the shooters to practice the positions and techniques they had learned.  Walking up and down the line, I was witness to fine trigger control, firing on the respiratory pause, shifting of NPOA, etc.  If these ladies persist, they will all become Riflewomen - of that I have no doubt!!

I would like to thank all of the awesome instructors from near and far who to showed up to run this amazing event: Miss Conduct, Justagirl, EpicQuilter, Scuba Steve, Gunjunkie, Alarm Lister, Sieggie and The Menace.  Without you all this event would not have been the success that it was.

If you took pictures, please post -- I will post the few I had the time to take in a following post.

THANK YOU TO ALL WHO ATTENDED!!!!

HOOZAH!!!!

Love those pics and yeah, I have some competition living right under my roof! I do love my daughter and that she keeps me on her toes. I think it's about time the both of us go shopping for our own rifles and come next time to earn that coveted Rifleman patch! Thank you to all of the instructors and other attendees. I met so many wonderful people yet again.  ^:)^
Side note... I will be making a compilation video and will post again with the link. It will link to my personal youtube channel and in order to keep things *somewhat* private, the video will only be able to be watched if you are given the link. It will not be searchable, if that makes sense. Stay tuned!

AWESOME WEEKEND! Thanks to all the instructors for making this event so wonderful.
I've learned so much, gained confidence in my shooting, met some amazing folks, and have a better appreciation for our history as a country.  I'm proud of my scores, that I didn't get rattled by the random ammo jams, or the uhhh chamber flag incident (twice).  I just love my new Ruger 1022 Competition and now that our first "date" together is behind us, I'm expecting a long lasting and high scoring relationship! :1luvu

Jenn, YOU GOT THIS!!!  You are such an excellent shooter.  I LOVE you new beautiful rifle and I KNOW that you are a future Riflewoman.  You would have scored this weekend if not for a malfunction or two, but these are things that force us to adapt/overcome as well as be persistent.  You KNOW that you are there and VERY capable of making score.  Just remember, have fun, enjoy yourself, relax and it will come -- easier said than done, huh?  Love your attitde and persistence and can't wait to see you score expert and become an orange hat!!!!!!

Angela, I am so impressed with you and Autumn.  It is obvious that you are a great Mom and take great pride in your daughter.  I keep having to remind myself that she is "only" 11.  She is so easy to work with - listens, applies, and like I said, will be outshooting you in no time  ;D

It was a great event with 12 ladies on sat and 10 on sunday.  Attaching a few of the photos I have.  Ladies learned a lot and were receptive to the information given.  We had plenty of instructors to give lots of one on one time as the ladies needed it.  I see many of the ladies in attendance getting their rifleman patch soon.  Thanks for coming out and shooting.

Ladies, I can't thank you enough for your support, openness and friendship.  Certainly, would not have achieved Rifleman, as first timer, out of the gate, if it weren't for you. Think I'm gonna have to place that patch on an EpicQuilter Jacket!!!  Thank you for your guidance.  Humbly I say, "Once is not Enough."  I look forward to learning so much more.  Ditto "Denise the Menace". ..

All the Ladies did a great job, some even amazing for their first try. This was the best lady seed I have attended to date. Just Kim put a lot of hard work in to making sure it went smooth and all that partook walked away a much better rifle shooters. Overall a great weekend, look forward to doing again.

Great event!  I am wondering who I borrowed the rifle from and how do I get a long sling for my rifle.  That sling was amazing to use and I am trying hard to find one.  It was heavy cotton material, green, and one of the gentlemen with a pickup truck let me use if (Ruger).  I now own my OWN Ruger!  Thanks

I am sure the rifle was one of Dennis's. The sling was probably his too although it could have been mine. They are available in many places and it's called a GI web sling.    I believe our Appleseed store carries them but there is a minimum order.   You can also find them at https://ammogarand.com/.

Look forward to seeing you at the next event with YOUR rifle.  :---

The link that Scuba Steve gave you: https://ammogarand.com/ is an excellent resource.  You can also Google "1 1/4 US military cotton web sling" and of course the Appleseed Store sells them -- with any of these you will also need the 1 1/4" sling swivels.

Let me know if you need further information!

It's easy to meet the minimum purchase at the Appleseed Store. https://store.rwvaappleseed.com/page13.html
A sling and set of swivels will do it but why stop there? They have very cool shirts, hats, and other swag. The slings are priced right. The swivels are a bit pricy but Grovetec are high quality and made in the USA.
