Title: Cabin Fever Shoot
Post by: Gus on December 27, 2021, 02:35:37 PM
Hello Everyone

Christian and I went out to the range yesterday for a bit of the cabin fever challenge shooting.

Had a great time!  Weather was in the upper 20s and little wind, not bad for south central Alaska in late December.

We used an NRA 100 yard target, the SR-1.  We each shot the challenge four times: centerfire open sights, centerfire optics, rimfire open sights and rimfire optics. We did 5 shots standing, 5 kneeling, 5 sitting and 5 prone. We set the target at 100 yards.

We didn't set strict timelines for the shooting. Christian used his Howa .270 and it is slow to reload. So we simply shot, changed positions and reloaded as fast as we could. In other words, we simply had fun with it.

Our scores were pretty good ranging from 163 to 182. I was particularly pleased with my rimfire open sight group. I used a 22" 10/22 converted to an LTR. I have a lot of confidence in that rifle.

I'm sure we'll get out and do that again in a few weeks.

Hope you all had a good Christmas and we wish everyone a happy, safe and prosperous new year!

Gus
