I used to shoot High power Service Rifle matches many years ago and Appleseed has made me come out of retirement.
So, I built this rifle:
PSA Lower
Geissele NM trigger
Magpul UBT gen 2 stock
Compass Lake Engineering Optics ready Service rifle upper
20" Bartlein 1/7.7 twist
CLE chamber
HI-LUX XTC 1x4x34 scope.
I'm going to shoot it this month at a KD in Huntsville , Alabama.
Gonna use 77 gr SMK's.
Wish me luck!!
I'm almost 65 and Appleseed has aroused my marksmanship and history bug.
How about a pic?
Nice rifle, should be able to easily hold the V ring with it! I was once a High Power competitor as well. I have a couple of rifles that are very similar to yours, I bought the uppers from White Oak, the triggers in the Rock River lowers are Geissele's too. I have been shooting 77 grain TMK's in our club matches, which are run to NRA High Power rules.
I'm sure you'll do well at the KD!
That's almost exactly the same as my high power rifle, same ammo. Should work great for a KD.
If you find the balance is too front heavy (those CLE float tubes are very heavy up front), you can get some aftermarket lead weights for the UBR gen 2 here - https://www.whiteoakarmament.com/buttstock-mega-weight-system-for-magpul-ubr-gen2.html - For me, it really helps keep the rifle steadier during off hand. Yes it increases the weight, but... it's already what, 12+ pounds? so who cares haaha.
I hope the hi-lux scope works out for you. The Athlon XTC scope I was using crapped out and stopped tracking after a disappointingly small number of rounds (I think - less than 500 rounds). Now I'm using a white oak xtc scope, which is a really great price point for how good of a scope it is.
Compass Lake makes outstanding equipment. You'll do well with your new rifle. Good Luck!

Shot a 47/50 with it.
whoop whoop!! :---
