Wow! What a day! We had 29 students show up, including 18 members of Trail Life. Everyone arrived with smiles on their faces and eager to go. And the weather couldn't have been better. Special shout-out to our gracious host, the Cherokee County Sheriff's Department and Sheriff Frank Reynolds. We are the only outside organization allowed to use the facilities and we are very grateful.
When preparing the T-shirts for the weekend, I had an inkling we were going to have our hands full...

We had a lot of work to do so we began right away with the First Strike of the match delivered by yours truly under the guise of Captain John Parker.

After that, we had the safety briefing before we brought rifles to the line. Or should I say lines? We basically had 2 full lines and worked in relays all day. 6Bones kicked things off for us as the Line Boss.

We began with a redcoat. Then the real firehose of instruction began with Sling Use, the Prone Position, 6 Steps, NPOA and then a trigger exercise. Soaking it all in we did some rifle fitting and went to work on some squares targets until lunch time.

At lunch we kept working. ~~:) We heard about Talking Targets, IMC (Inches, Minutes, and Clicks), as well as, the Second Strike of the Match. After lunch, we shot a couple more squares to get sighted in before moving forward to seated. We took the time to try all 4 seated positions and let everyone figure out what worked best for them. Then we did it under time in Rifleman's Cadence.

Then we moved forward to the Standing position. Then we took another break for the Third Strike before finishing up with an AQT and the story of Timothy Murphy and how one man (or woman) can make a difference.

You heard us quote John Adams when he reflected on his walk down Battle Road, "Posterity! you will never know how much it cost the present generation to preserve your freedom! I hope you will make a good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in Heaven that I ever took half the pains to preserve it."
