I bought a set of the TSR 200 Tech Sights in preparation for my first Appleseed next month and put them on my 10/22. The adjustment wheel on the rear elevation is really stiff. I couldn't move it at all with just a fingernail. I had to pull out the flat bladed screwdriver on my Leatherman to get it to move. Is this typical?
Also, when sighting it in I had to raise the front sight all the way up with the rear all the way down. No biggie, but now I can't get the rear to come back up. It's almost like it's come off the threads. Did I get a lemon or have others had this experience?
I bought this over the TSR 100 because I thought that it would be a good idea to have the ability to quickly change elevation in the future if I wanted to shoot at some longer distances. I really wish I would have bought the TSR 100 because having to have a screwdriver handy to adjust the elevation just isn't going to cut it.
This is typical for many and has been discussed several times in threads. You will find it much easier in the future to have a front sight adjustment tool handy and make elevation changes with it. Some people have had to purchase a higher front sight post in order to get their desired zero at 25M.
I searched the forums, but didn't find any information specific to my issue. It may be out there, but I couldn't find it. :-\
I have the front sight adjustment tool and it works great for the front sight and rear windage. The sight came with the taller front post you mentioned. I've the rifle on at 25m, no biggie.
My problem is with the rear elevation and future adjustments for longer ranges when I'm not at appleseed. I bottomed the rear out, and now can't get it to come up no matter how much I spin the adjustment dial (with a screwdriver, cause I can't do it with a fingernail). I think the sight is broken, or has come off of the threads.
Sounds like maybe I was just expecting too much. It seems like even if the rear site worked correctly you shouldn't have to have a separate tool just to adjust elevation and windage once the rifle is set up and sighted in. ...Like an (6/3 -6) AR-15 or garand.
