It was a great weekend at the Piqua Fish and Game! Fifteen shooters filled our line for marksmanship and history.
Saturday was a nearly perfect day for shooting with mild temperatures and cloud cover. We moved briskly through the day's instruction and were able to shoot two scoring Appleseed Qualification Tests before our closing Red Coat target. The Red Coat targets revealed very nice improvement from the morning numbers.
Sunday morning arrived with dire forecasts of rain moving into the area; by about 10:00 the predictions became reality with light rain beginning. Showers became heavier through the day but pop-up tents over the firing line helped tremendously. It was a hearty group of shooters that braved the elements and soggy targets through the day. We had two new riflemen, Harold T., shot a score of 223, and Angie F., earned her patch with a 215. Doc Willi re-qualified shooting a score of 213 with a bolt-action rifle.
Out fun shoot was pumpkins set at fifty yards and teams of three shooters assigned. They were given forty seconds to send twenty rounds each into their pumpkin; the team with the least amount of their target left was to be the winner. Our top team was Jamie, Rob and Sheepdog1776, with only about 30% of their pumpkin remaining.
We're excited to have a new Orange Hat join our team; Angie (Mac) has accepted the challenge of becoming an Appleseed Instructor, we look forward to her contribution to Project Appleseed.
Thanks go to our awesome Instructor's Team of Coyote 217, Rattlehead, Doc Willi, Chieflane, Shadow 870, Remnar, Steel-Man and Sheepdog1776.
