Aside from a couple of last minute cancellations due to illness, all were signed in and ready to start on time. After learning about safety and pistol terminology, we dove into a redcoat target and discovered we had some work to do. We heard the first strike before learning grip and stance, 6 Steps of Firing the Shot, and Natural Point of Aim. After additional practice, lunch, and the second strike, we learned about controlled pairs, double taps, and Center Line Index before hearing the 3rd and final strike. Next we worked on the low ready position, reloading drills, and malfunction drills. We then wrapped up basic instruction with target transitions, and one-handed shooting. We then shot several PQTs before ending for the day.
Thank you to Mark and Jim for coming out to this pistol event, and I look forward to seeing both of you on the trail soon. Keep practicing what we went over this weekend, and I have no doubts that both of you can qualify as Pistoleerâ„¢s!
