AFTER ACTION REPORT TO FOLLOW...
The Quarryville cadre hosted another Appleseed weekend at SOUTHERN LANCASTER COUNTY FARMER-SPORTSMAN'S ASSOCIATION Sept. 4-5, 2021.
11 signed up, and 7 showed up Saturday morning for a weekend of marksmanship instruction, history, and rifle shooting.
Anthony with his RIFLEMAN patch and qualifying target!
Alexander with one of 3 RIFLEMAN patches for the weekend.
This is Kathleen. Kathleen had to use alternative positions due to injuries she's still healing from, but she showed up, absorbed the instruction, and responded with not 1, not 2, but THREE RIFLEMAN qualifying targets, and earned her patches.
Alexander with another qualifying target. Not only did he kick the butt of these targets, he was quick with it too!
This is Scott. Scott has been to several APPLESEEDS, and was always "right on the cusp" of that RIFLEMAN. This time, everything gelled, he relaxed, had fun, and EARNED the coveted title of RIFLEMAN.
I cannot express just how proud I am of his performance. He persevered, as a RIFLEMAN does, and got the job done!
This is Marc. Marc stopped by on Sunday to pick up a patch that he earned months ago, and we were out of back then. He stuck around to shoot a few AQT's. He got on the line, no practice, and proceeded to knock out a couple more RIFLEMAN level scores.
Once a RIFLEMAN......
Anthony with another RIFLEMAN level score and patch. Anthony wasn't sure if he could muster the necessary skills from his past life as a UNITED STATES MARINE, but I had no doubts at all. He earned his patches in fine style.
Hoorah, Devil Dog!
Alexander with his third RIFLEMAN patch, this time with a DISTINGUISHED tab to go with it.
This young man impresses the tar out of me!
Richard can turn out RIFLEMAN scores like sausages! The man is a rifle shooting machine!
Marc with his second RIFLEMAN patch.
Kathleen with another RIFLEMAN-class target, and your ever-lovin' shoot boss hamming it up!
BBQBandit and the father son duo of Richard and Alexander with their cleared Red coat targets, and 1st PA rifle reg't patches.
HITS COUNT!
Anthony cleared the red coat target as well, and earned a 1st. PA rifle reg't patch.
Richard with another cleared red coat.
Duplicate.
Alexander with another cleared red coat target. Look at the bottom target, the 400 yard one. Can you say "Natural Point of Aim"?
The line for prone. I can't help but cheer when RIFLEMAN are on the line, preparing to engage those long distance targets.
AQT, Standing.
Prepping mags, scoring targets, and getting ready to shoot another AQT.
"If your not prepping, you should be drinking water!"
Examining targets, and checking for NPOA on the various stages.
"Alright shooters, we have another patch to award"
Scott finally got the monkey off his back, and earned his RIFLEMAN patch. Here he is explaining how much of a relief it is.
Here's the trick, I told him. Don't think about it, don't worry about it, just DO IT!
Ilya with a wet rifle, ready to shoot prone. The weather changed on Sunday, and it was wet. Ilya, however, rose to the challenge. He overcame some equipment obstacles, and proceeded to shoot several really good targets, with a center fire modern musket. His technique is very good, and he is right there ready to earn his RIFLEMAN patch!
Kathleen shooting her modern musket prone.
Good prone form.
Let's see, support elbow under rifle, check. Sling tight, check. NPOA, check. And no he isn't gripping the stock, his fingers naturally fall that way. I checked.
We shoot alot on Sunday. Notice the tape on the elbow...
Another orange hat!!
