Let's start with a big THANK YOU to Mingo Rod & Gun Club for hosting Project Appleseed. They graciously donated their rifle range for the weekend, and we couldn't spread the message of Liberty to our fellow Americans without organizations like Mingo Rod & Gun helping us out.
We worked our way through some equipment issues and the hot summer weather on Saturday, as the students tried to absorb the marksmanship instruction that was coming at them fast and furious. In spite of the heat, results on the AM and PM Redcoat targets showed improvement. Henry cleared the morning Redcoat earning the coveted 1st PA Rifles patch, and Chip cleared both morning and afternoon Redcoats. In the one AQT of the day Chip scored a 246, earning his Distinguished patch.
Sunday was even warmer, and in spite of frequent breaks between AQTs performance on the firing line trended downward throughout the day. The students continued to be very attentive to safety, and there were no incidents. Due to the need for frequent breaks, the students were treated to more Heritage than at most Appleseeds, as the instructors seemed to have an inexhaustible supply.
In summary, it was another great event at a great western Pennsylvania range. We're looking forward to visiting again next year!
