Reports have just come in from aboard the fast sloop Quero of a great battle fought between the brave and fearless Appleseeders and their dastardly Redcoat targets at Clinton County Farmers and Sportsman's Association in Wilmington, OH. Capt. Darcy informs us that the Redcoats attacked with abandon at first light on the 14th instant but were kept at bay by incessant and well directed fire until their final defeat before sunset on the 15th.
In all 2 companies of Redcoats were completely annihilated. The first by Joe in early hours of Sunday's battle and the second by Roy (both from the colony of Pennsylvania) in the battle's waning moments Sunday afternoon.
After the battle 4 Appleseeders were awarded the coveted Rifleman patch for outstanding marksmanship and uncommon persistence exhibited on the battlefield, known locally as Good Ole Bay 7, that day. The first was Joe with a 222 followed by Eric at 218 and Dave with 214. Roy ended the battle with a 217 on the final enemy charge and victory was declared.
All Appleseeders, now veterans, who took part in the battle displayed exceptional persistence, especially Ben who will have no trouble earning his patch hopefully in the near future. Others who were forced to retire early- Kent, Ed and, of course, Logan -all contributed to the cause and will be warmly welcomed back at any future shoot.
Thanks to all our shooters and instructors who, along with amazing August weather, made this Appleseed one to remember!
LRM,
