Beautiful August weather and wonderful people made this a truly memorable Appleseed at the Piqua Fish and Game. Sixteen shooters were on our line to improve their marksmanship and listen to History.
Saturday went quickly with all the layers of Appleseed instruction and the Three Strikes. We shot one scoring Appleseed Qualification Test (AQT) before the evening Red Coat and gained one new Rifleman; Mike W. earned his patch with a very respectable 234 (210 is the minimum score to achieve Rifleman). We also had two re-qualifiers with Jay M. scoring a 214 and Samantha M. shooting a 226.
Sunday morning brought a quick review of safety, steady hold factors and positions before the opening Red Coat. We then re-confirmed zero on the rifles, moved on to NPOA drills, then started the AQT routine.
Pamala W. earned her Rifleman's Patch Sunday by shooting the magical score of 210, which entitled her to a baptism by the cool waters of "The North Bridge". She went on to re-confirm through the afternoon with steadily increasing scores, 225 being the highest. Mike W. also re-confirmed by shooting above a rifleman's score on every PQT! Also Tyler F. re-confirmed with a score of 222.
Most of the instructors got a little trigger time as well, Coyote 217 re-confirmed with a 216, Dol shot a 219, WildBillCody a 221, and Shadow 870 shot a 214.
Our fun shoot was targets posted at one hundred yards and teams of four shooters assigned. They were given thirty seconds to send twenty rounds to their targets, the team with the most hits was to be the winner. The winning team was Pamola, Dol, Doc Willi and Tyler.
A special thanks to the border raiding Instructors from Virginia, who spent the weekend shooting on our firing line; Samantha earned an Ohio patch by clearing three of her four Red Coats, and also earned a Distinguished rocker by shooting a score of 243. Jay (Brother Pilot) earned his Ohio patch by clearing the final red Coat of the weekend. Both had numerous rifleman's scores over the two days; it was wonderful to meet them and share ideas.
Two orange hats receive well-deserved promotions to full Instructor status; congratulations to Naga and Shadow870, we are honored to have both of them in our ranks.
Receiving their 10 shoot pins this weekend was Chieflane and Naga, thanks to both of you for your dedication to Project Appleseed.
We're very honored to have Mike W. (Steel-Man) accept the challenge of becoming an instructor; we're excited to have him on the team.

For the record, Samantha (Deadant) and I had a great time! Really appreciate the hospitality and the great instruction. Really hope to repeat the visit, and very much hope to see some OH folks head over to VA for a shoot or two.
