The Red Hill Range in Martin GA was host to the first ever Appleseed Pistol Event for Ladies ONLY!
We had a great group of ladies in attendance for this pistol event and I am so proud of each of them for their hard work and determination through the whole day. The experience levels represented this day went from "new" shooter all the way through accomplished shooter!
After starting the day with the First Strike of the Match we posted the first "Hits Count" target to see what the baseline is for these shooters. We then moved on to the instruction and A LOT of dry fire practice to start the day. There were some good habits formed in the morning, and the feedback from the ladies confirmed that these exercises were very helpful!
At lunch we heard the Second Strike of the Match and then Roswell told the tale of the local heroine Nancy Hart. Then it was back to the line with more dry fire, and live fire drills to prepare these shooters for the PQT! During one of our afternoon breaks we heard the Third Strike of the Match, and then we had time for three PQTs before finishing with the "Hits Count" target. This last target showed a marked improvement from the morning target. Even the PQTs showed that these ladies knew very well what they were about. The new shooter, Deborah, was able to score a 165! Huzzah! Staci scored a 190. Jen a 197. And I think Cindy scored a 204! The PQT is certainly a challenge for any pistol shooter, but these ladies are determined to conquer it and earn those Pistoleer™ patches! Some more dry fire, and another event or two, and they will have it!!
Thankfully, the weather wasn't too oppressive and didn't seem to wear anyone out before we wrapped up the shooting at 5:00.
It was an honor to be the shoot boss for this event, and I thank Roswell and Cokeguy for their vital support and instruction for these ladies, and this Shoot Boss.
