Unprecedented heat, is unprecedented! WOW. Hope you all are keeping cool. It's so hot Oregon let's you pump your own gas! Can't wait to get back on the line.
Sounds like you had conditions that would warrant awarding InfernoSeed qualifications O0
The weather indeed was intense. On it's own the temperatures were not excessive - in the mid to high 80s - but combined with the humidity and direct sunlight it was something else, especially on Sunday. Mats felt scalding hot. In prone I was getting a pulse transfer not through my arm and sling but through my head and cheek rest, no joke. It was very pronounced.
But I guess out of such circumstances you learn pertinent lessons. Drink, hydrate ALL THE TIME off the firing line. Sunscreen during the day and lotion at night. And sometimes it helps to pour a little cool water over your head to bring down that core temperature that feels like your brain is boiling. By Sunday afternoon I felt it necessary to skip the final AQT and Redcoat - I'd reached my limit. But it was still fun to watch the line and see people make progress.
In the end this weekend, everyone at my AS shoot in Piqua, OH was smart about the heat and stayed safe. Thanks to the Instructor Cadre in particular for keeping their eyes on us and safely coaching us through Sat and Sunday.

Sounds intense! Those pop-up shelters have become a staple for our firing lines during the summer months around here. Ya'll keep cool up there!

Is that still the law in Oregon? #)
Stay cool out there! 10x10 canopies are darn near mandatory here in the South during the hot part of the season. Just be sure to tie them down with sandbags or they'll become flying canopies when the wind decides to gust.
