Title: Marion, Ohio AAR 5-23-21

We had a great Appleseed at Meeker Sportsman Center near Marion, OH this past weekend.  We had four shooters show up Saturday morning looking to work on their skills.

We started the weekend with a welcome, introduction to the goals of RWVA and Project Appleseed, and our normal safety briefing.  This was followed by bringing rifles to the line and we started the event with the Sat morning Red Coat.
Results were typical.  We had three of four put three rounds in the 100 yd target, 1 at 200, 0 at 300, 4n at 400 but nobody joined Daniel Morgan.

We moved to the points of instruction (POI).  The steady hold factors in prone were presented followed by the six steps and NPOA.  Drills were shot after each POI and in late morning, we were able to move to Remnar's presentation of the IMC (Inches-Minutes-Clicks).  Sight adjustments were calculated by the shooters and applied to their rifles.  Our first confirmation groups were shot and we broke for lunch.

After presentation of the First Strike at lunch by CWCDL79, we returned to the line to make a second set of sight adjustments and to shoot confirmation groups.

We then moved to the steady hold factors in seated followed by shooting drills.  The Second Strike was presented at the afternoon break by CWCDL79 and we moved on to the steady hold factors in standing.  Drills were shot and we ended the day with a practice AQT and the afternoon Red Coat.

Improvement was clearly shown.  We had 5 of 6 shooters at 100, 3 of 6 at 200, 1 of 6 at 300 and 1 of 6 at 400.  We had three folks join Daniel Morgan and we had a cleared Red Coat.  Congrats Adam, who was presented with an Ohio Appleseed patch to commemorate this feat.

The day ended with a third strike presented by Corvette followed by a call to action.

Sunday dawned sunny and all but one of the shooters returned for day two. This was offset by Aliquippa who joined us to work with her new Tippman AR/22.  The morning Red Coat showed good results and after an NPOA drill , we moved to the AQTs.

We shot four AQT's on Sunday but nobody shot the score.  Several were close with a high score for the weekend of 200.

Several of our instructors took the opportunity to shoot an AQT and work on their shooting skills as well.

We had a KD lecture at lunch and shot the Sunday afternoon Red Coat mid afternoon. Results were consistent with the prior three and we then broke down the 25 meter line to start working at distance.  Shooters and Instructors brought a wide selection of rifles to the line to work on their skills at distance.

We had steel targets posted at 200 and 400 yards.  Also full size targets were posted at several distances for shooters to work with their centerfire rifles. Some of our instructors brought historical rifles to the line and shooters had the opportunity to shoot an M1 Garand.

We closed the event with another call to action.  It was another great Appleseed at Meeker Sportsman Center.
My thanks to the shooters for having a safe event and to the Instructors (Remnar, CWCDL79, AKA, Black_Bird, Meadow, Aliquippa) that helped with the event.   Also, my thanks to the Meeker Sportsman Club for hosting us again.
