This weekend 9 great americans came out to the Parma Rod and Gun Club in Parma Idaho for a pistol IBC. Saturday started with rain but it did not dampen the spirit of these great folks. We started our weekend with review of our manula and pistol safety. The rain broke and so did we to set up our firing line and get to work. We spent the rest of the day with the shootboss performing all the demos and the shooters taking turns shooting the course of fire and working with shooters on the line. The course of fire was very abridged as we had to get through it but each segment was taught and shot at least once by days end.
Day two morning was all classroom work. We broke out our Blue Guns and worked on all the demos that we would perform at an event. Each person did each demo with a model and a one person audience. Working out the words to use, where should the model stand, where should the instructor stand were all things that have to be figured out. Once we finished each instructor came up in front of the entire class and presented one demo to everybody. Start with safety and work all the way to controlled pairs and draw and fire. Much was learned by all.
At lunch we listened to the story of how America got from April 19, 1775 to today and how the pistol played a role in that process.
Now the fun begins.
We went back to our firing line and did a quick set up. The weather was great and we took advantage of it. We shot PQT after PQT discovering two Pistoleer™s by the end of the weekend. Several more shooters are right there, turning in scores in the 200 and above range. Just have to get over that hump. Yes stage 5 will make you or break you. Remember there is nothing you can do about that last shot. Concentrate on the next shot.
The day ended with a red coat challenge. 13 rounds, 4 in each silhouette one in the button. Each round counts as one point, except the button. The button must be shot with one hand and counts as five points. Prescott ruled the day in this challenge with his 22cal pistol. He may have missed a shot or two in the silhouettes but nailing that one handed button put him over the top.
