Title: Boulder, CO - AAR - May 22, 2021
Post by: Captain on May 23, 2021, 01:38:57 PM
The Boulder Rifle Club (BRC) was once again the host range for Colorado Appleseed's first Rimfire Known Distance (RFKD) of 2021! Seven shooters took the line and learned about working their rifles at ranges beyond our normal 25m events. There was a quick review of the fundamentals followed by trajectory and comeups, drop data calculation and recording, zero selection and correcting for winds among other topics. The group then used what they learned to shoot the Appleseed Qualification Test "at distance".

All the shooters made tremendous improvement throughout the day. Thomas, who mistakenly signed up for this event without attending a prior Appleseed, decided to stick it out and seemed to improve with every course of fire. Charlie was getting back on the range after some time away and did a remarkable job compensating on a rifle with non-adjustable iron sights. Both Steffan and Cort were both putting up stages with 8, 9 and 10 hits out of 10 (Rifleman scores) but didn't manage to put together 4 solid stages before fatigue and malfunctions set in. Our newest Red Hat, Flux, was on the line and earned his RFKD rocker and just missed going distinguished! We also had SF Steve out for his second ever Appleseed event. He earned his RFKD rocker and took his orange hat to join the Colorado Appleseed Cadre! Welcome aboard! To top it off, Keith first earned his rocker and then went on to shoot a 48/50 to earn his Distinguished Patch - nice shooting!

It was a tiring but rewarding event and we even took some time to cover some incredible history from the American Revolution, including the Overmountain Men at the Battle of King's Mountain and the story Francis Marion among others. It was a great day to spend with fellow Americans enjoying our marksmanship heritage and the history of our founding. Thanks to all those who were able to attend and I look forward to seeing you all again at a future event. (Full Distance Event in Laramie in August??)

I managed to get a couple of photos which I'll post here over the next day or two. You can click on the pictures to see them at full size and then click again to shrink down.

Three shooters earned their Rimfire KD Patch. Here's Flux and S F Steve getting their patches. We didn't get a picture of Keith getting his patch or his distinguished patch. Nice shooting guys!!!

This was a really fun event and I hope everyone will continue on their Rifleman's Journey. More than ever, the Rifleman's Seventh Step is critical. Tell others about your Appleseed experience. Come back out and bring a friend who needs to hear the message of Liberty. Join us as a volunteer and help us win others to the cause of Liberty. Help us put together an Appleseed event for any group you are a part of - Half-Day, One-Day, Libertyseed, etc.

Thanks again to the Boulder Rifle Club and all the dedicated Appleseed Volunteers.
