The Deer Creek Conservation Club is a great host and we had another excellent 25 m Appleseed at Jonesboro IN.
19 brave Americans came to improve their marksmanship and rekindle the fire of heritage on a gorgeous spring weekend in the Midwest. Congratulations to our 2 new Riflemen Jay and Carl (about time, you old timer!). Cherie found her areas to improve and is determined to master them, Dan and Austin were a great father/son team that wasn't even thwarted with a piece of hot brass between Austin's safety glasses and face! Bernie made huge leaps and bounds of improvement and is raring to come back. Scott and Robin showed that you can continue to achieve even if you've been to multiple events. Bryce and Dave pounded away and Dave discovered that it really makes a difference if you don't slap the trigger!! Devon and Brian shot great all weekend and were model students. Tiff, Janene and Hailey consistently made great groups and had fun in the mean time. Rich thrilled us with his Daewoo and tightened up his groups.
Special congratulations to Team Cupcake that won in a tie breaker against Team Stinko on the ever-popular dueling tree team fun event. I hope you enjoy your FABULOUS PRIZES. There was some great history told and the audience input was excellent...even to my sense of timing and delivery of comedy.
Again, many thanks to all, especially my great instructor cadre: Corvette, Cadence, Devilkitty, CarrollMS, Naga, Manik, Lil' Dragon. And thanks to the board at DCCC for letting us stay at the clubhouse and the assistance on setting up the range.
A fabulous weekend with fabulous weather at a fabulous range, along with fabulous students, fabulous instructors, and fabulous prizes! Who could ask for more?
Congratulations to our new Riflemen - Jay and Carl
Really had a great time, even if I felt like a truck ran over me the next morning :) :) :) :)
The weather was great, instructors and participants were all courteous and professional.
Their instruction really helped me earn my Rifleman patch on my second Appleseed event ^:)^ ^:)^ ^:)^
Looking forward to the next event that comes my way.
Happy shooting, keep improving, it can be done, if this old man can do it. O0
Enjoy life to its fullest.

Carl,
It was our pleasure to work with you this past weekend. It is great that everything came together for you this weekend. Congrats on your patch, it is not a small accomplishment. Hope to see you again at another event. And, check out the schedule and find a KD event to test your skills with a centerfire at the real distances.

To say we had fun, enjoyed the event, and learned a lot about both history and marksmanship would not fully describe what happened over the 2-day course. As a serial volunteer, I understand it takes a lot to put on such an event. This was fabulous, to steal from Cadence.
I already took the laser pointer idea and used it at a 4-H Shooting Sports meeting last night. The kids were sitting at a bench and were amazed to see how much the pointer bounced around on the target. NPOA exists in the bench position too. What a great tool to teach that.
Cherie and I will be back in the fall. I will try improving my score as will Cherie. We are looking at a KD event in October too.
Thanks for all the good instruction and your time. I am certain there are families out there that would have liked to see you too.
Jay aka Cherisgeek
Jay,
Thanks for the kind words, it was our pleasure to work with both of you this past weekend. Good luck on your KD and we look forward to seeing you both again on our line. Huzzah!!

I had a blast even though I have bruises and booboo's and I didn't feel fully human again until Wednesday. I must be a glutton for punishment because I'm ready to do it again. The stories/history that we learned over the weekend were great. I learn something new about the history of our country and my shooting every time I attend an event. I especially enjoy the camaraderie of the students and instructors. Maybe someday, when Jay lets me slow down from all our other voluntold work...I mean volunteer work, I will make time to volunteer with this organization. I can see myself scoring targets and keeping all of the paperwork straight so the more seasoned instructors can focus on students. Maybe even teaching myself...one day! Just got to get Jay (cheriesgeek) on board. :F

Cherie,
Like we told you last weekend, there is always a Blue Hat for those who want to help out but have not shot a rifleman's score. Glad to hear you think that the organization is worth volunteering for. That's a huge first step.
Hope to work with you at a future event.
I also had a great time, and am only now feeling recovered. I am practicing the things I learned, and already thinking about doing another event.
rstocum,
Yep, an Appleseed weekend takes a couple of days to recover from. Glad to hear that you plan to join us again. Remember, a Rifleman persists until he/she succeeds. Huzzah!!
