It was a great weekend at the Piqua Fish and Game! Twenty shooters filled our line of our April Appleseed, which commemorated the events of Patriot's Day. The opening Red Coat set the tone for the weekend with eleven-year-old Michelle setting a high standard by showing everyone how to clear the target. Her brother Nolan was just one shot away from clearing his. It was only after looking at her target that I suddenly noticed her hat had a Rifleman's patch on it! We had a family of Riflemen who had previously been to Appleseeds, and it showed in their consistent high scoring targets throughout the weekend.
Saturday's weather was chilly and overcast with light rain throughout the afternoon, not enough to be a real problem but enough to dampen rifles and mats. Normal equipment issues were experienced and addressed throughout the day. The line consisted of about half the shooters completely new to Appleseed, and the other half with having attended at least one event. Layers of instruction were given and the history of our Great Nation's founding was told. We had time for only one Appleseed Qualification Test (AQT) on Saturday, but it allowed Michelle D. to re-qualify her rifleman's status with a score 218. The evening Red Coat showed nice overall improvement was made, with nearly fifty percent of the shooters hitting Morgan's shingle!
Sunday's weather was much better for shooting, a little chilly if you were just standing around, but great for those going up and down into shooting positions. Four shooters cleared the morning Red Coat. We had two new Riflemen on Sunday Chris W., shot a 213 and then re-confirmed with a 221 and a 215, all with a bolt-action rifle! Collin W. earned his patch with a 213. Michelle re-qualified throughout the day with scores of 223, 216 and 210. Robert D. re-qualified with 216 and 222. Scott G. shot 212, and a pair of 214's. Finally, Todd F. (Jingo) proved he was still a Rifleman with a 228. There were many others who were getting close to the elusive rifleman's score, and I'm sure with just a little more practice they'll get their patch at the next Appleseed.
Out fun shoot was targets posted at one hundred yards and teams of three shooters assigned. They were given thirty seconds to send twenty rounds to their targets, the team with the most hits was to be the winner. With 52 hits out of a possible 60, the winning team was our family of Riflemen, Robert, Nolen and Michelle.
Thanks go to our awesome Instructor's Team of Coyote 217, Doc Willi, WildBillCody, Chieflane, Shadow 870, Naga, Jingo, DOL, Reclamer, and Remnar. Also, thanks go to Vic for bringing the instructors a tasty lunch both days.

Great photography! I didn't notice you taking pictures. Me and the kids had a great time as always. I'm very appreciative of all the volunteers who put these on. In case anyone is ever wondering while up there delivering the three strikes, we never get tired of hearing them, no matter how many times we've heard it.
Overall a great weekend. Even the rain didn't slow us down.
Just thought I would share the pictures that I took during the weekend as well.
A great weekend to be sure! here are some of the pictures I took.
