Another wonderful weekend at Orwell.
7 intrepid shooters joined us for our annual Patriots day event, and not a dry eye in sight.
Our weekend started off with Jim and Rich showing us they were men that new very well what they were about by clearing the morning redcoats. We moved on to our steady hold factors and six steps of firing the shot. By lunch time sights were adjusted and ready to go for the afternoon aqt.
Our heritage was shared with fellow patriots by a pair of experienced history recollectors to explain why we were even there on such a special weekend.
The Saturday aqt was fired with Jim just breaking that magic threshold and Rich putting up a very impressive distinguished score.
Before we knew it, the time had arrived for the national memorial volley. 13 shots broke the solemn silence as we paid homage to those that died in the cause of liberty. Unfortunately, the shootboss had technical difficulties in getting a live video feed to work to share this occasion with a wider audience.
Sunday started off with a couple of confirmation squares as our shooters had shown their rifles some loving overnight. Redcoat scores improved a little compared to the prior day, then we started into the aqt grind.
What a show we instructors got to see! Jim, Rich, Kristen, Heather, put on a requalifying tutorial, and Chris joined the ranks of riflemen! Jim also put up a solid distinguished score, with irons no less!
We ended the weekend with 5 of 6 shooters with an effective range of 400 yards, and Kristin, Heather, and Rich earning their Ohio state patch by clearing the redcoat.
Jim decided that Project Appleseed is a worthwhile endeavor, and has been welcomed into our ranks.
Thank you to all of our shooters, the instructors, and Orwell Gun club for another great weekend.

I finally achieved my personal goal of shooting Rifleman with iron sights. My son discovering the drive to compete against himself, improving scores. Thanks to the instructor cadre this weekend, he has tools to make a plan. I hope to see him earn his rifleman patch in the near future. He wants to shoot the AQT with his Garand in the worst way!
Again, thank you all for a very good weekend.
YUP another wonderful weekend at Orwell. Thank you to everyone that attended as either a student and also to the instructor crew. A good time was had by all.
A great big thank you as well to the members of Orwell Gun Club for being such good hosts once again.

A few photos from our event...
Nothing like clearing the Redcoat, right out of the gate on Saturday morning.
What a way to round out the day for Saturday, a distinguished patch!!!
Following up on Saturday's distinguished patch, take a look at a couple of those groups...
Might as well get those qualification jitters out of the way before lunch...
A rather "distinguished" looking gentleman. Iron sights, no less.
What a way to end the day, clearing the final Redcoat. With shooting like that, there may be a "hat" in her future...
Welcome to Team Appleseed! O0
The youth of today will be the leaders of tomorrow. Thanks, Ben. And thanks, Chris for the family involvement.
A few of the recipients of the April 19 commemorative patch.
Thanks, everyone, for joining us in the special event. See you down the trail.
