Title: Cabin Fever Challenge
Post by: TOMINCT on March 22, 2021, 02:55:46 PM
Saw this a couple days ago, only open until March 31st. A good way to get warmed up for the season and see how you do.

Rules are listed below the vid, should be something for almost everyone to take part in. CF rifle has 4 categories and 1 for muzzleloader. No rimfire class.

20 rounds with appropriate mags or stripper clips where applicable. Hasty sling use only, no support. The sponsor advocates safety throughout and it appears much along the lines of what we work on.

Hope a few here can take part.

mmm, my range will kick me out if I shoot that for time.

Sounds fun though!

Going to give the cabin fever challenge a try tomorrow.  Should be a nice day for shooting: mid to high 20's and hopefully not much wind.  I'll have to practice a bit kneeling, don't do that one very often.  I'll break out the CLE Service Rifle.  It absolutely loves my load with 55 gr FMJs launched at 2600 fps.  Will let you know how I do!

Excellent! Fired it with Parallax yesterday, there's room for improvement on my end for sure! Lack of rangetime definitely showed plus flexibility isn't what it used to be.

Basically it's a 20 round COF, 5 rounds in each standing, kneeling, prone and sitting, in that order. No sling or hasty only, rifle empty on position changes. It's time and score for the outcome. Timing starts on first round fired and ends on last.

Hope a few others have time to take part.

This cabin fever challenge has been a lot of fun.  My sons and I have been running a few rifles through the course of fire every now and then just to see how we do.  So far with several rifles we've been averaging in the 175 to 180 points range. This has been with the 100 yard SR 1 target.  My favorite rifle to use is the M1 Garand, but I do best with the Compass Lake AR 15 service rifle.

It's going to be cold tomorrow, but we're heading back out to the range again and will do the cabin fever challenge a bit more.

In Liberty,

Gus
