A low turn out shoot no doubt about it.

In an effort to get things going for our IIT's we got all of them on the line this weekend and worked a fast safe and smooth line.
We had 8 shooters, found 2 riflemen (hey Tarbutts thats 25%), recruited another IIT and made some good friends.

BlueFeather's outstanding organizational and converting difficulty to opportunity skills (we just don't have problems in NM) have earned her appropriate recognition as a Shoot Boss, doubling our in state capability. Now New Mexico can still Appleseed when I'm down helping the Texicans O0
Unlike the TarButts from Yanceyville we had high class coffee provided by a sponsor who has been on the Appleseed trail with us. Appleseeders are good people and take care of each other. Afraid we had no mud or rain but we did get sunburned. ;D NM Appleseeders will henceforth wear sombreros or pith helmets of brilliant color, appropriate to their status.

The first Las Cruces, NM shoot. O0
8 of Las Cruces' finest American's showed up to learn about their heritage and marksmanship in the "Land of Enchantment."
The day was cold, 36 degrees and pretty windy. By afternoon we had to add guy wires and weights to the target line due to the wind.
We reminded them the targets were not standing still on Apr. 19. ;) That famous bright New Mexico sunshine made everything perfect.
Adapt, persist and overcome they did.
With 8 instructors ( 2 RI and 6IIT's) and SamD at the helm, the "time monkey" was DOA. &) :~
We got in 3 QDAQT's on Sat. and hammered out 5 on Sun.
These folks were incredibly persistent. This group was shooting at pretty high standards and many getting at or near the 180-200's.
We did the 3 Strikes of the Match at lunch Sat, and Dangerous Old Men and Women too!, on Sun. lunch.
To break things up on Sunday, we did an upside down QDAQT.
Then we followed it up with a team competition shoot. We split the group in two, each group shot into a Stage 2 AQT.
The team with the most holes outside of their target was second place. Prep 40 with a 2 minute limit. It was a great fun and mental boost for the shooters.
We got in one more QDAQT, a bit of history, and then a final RedCoat.
On Sat. we got one new Rifleman with a 224 score. For the rest of the weekend he shot well into the 220"s. Congratulations Harry!
Then Scott stepped up for an Orange hat so we have a new IIT! Fantastic!
Sunday we had another Rifleman, Edward, with a 212. Congratulations Edward!

The lights were still twinkling as we left. As Sam implied, coffee was supplied by Ocotillo Roasters located in Coas Bookstore.

We had the safe and beautiful 50 yard pistol range bay all to ourselves. New Mexican's routinely shoot pistols at this distance.

The laser demo was great for showing NPOA, Rifleman's Cadance, and some common firing line errors. Buck was the model here.
