Ho, that's fun!
Though I don't have a 3p smallbore rifle, and also the 50' range here in Seattle is closed for the virus. Aaaand I don't have pants, and I can't regularly score higher than 70 on an issf target from standing. So just in general not for me lol. (If the 50' range here was open I would totally swing by with my $200 savage and get smoked by all the kids. Would be entertaining and educational)
But, this is a super cool idea. I love the idea of correspondence rifle matches.
Hey Moy, Go for it! I don't have the expensive equipment either, but I think any 22 bolt action will do for fun and keep the Appleseed edge. I do have an old 10X shooting jacket and kneeling roll, so I am going to shoot for fun and against myself. I can shoot in my backyard range. $5.00 per entry toward supporting CMP is a good cause.

If the 50' range near here was open I would definitely do this. It's been closed since April-ish though, with no reopening in sight. So, sadly, the shortest distance I can get is 25 yards, and that's standing only. The shortest spot I can get for prone/sitting/kneeling is 50 yards.
Definitely agree about shooting against myself. I try to put 100-200 shots a week into proper targets and track my scores week over week.
