It was a great weekend for Lady Liberty. Our host facility allowed us to hold this event on the Action Range which is much wider with better drainage than any of the other ranges used in the last couple of years. It allowed us to spread the line out for better social distancing. With 14 pre-registrations we set up a spacious line on Friday evening. We had some people let us know they could not attend at the last minute and would up with 9 shooters on Saturday.
The weather was beautiful on Saturday and we covered all the essentials, got the shooters zeroed and shot 2 AQTs. There were no Riflemen revealed but everyone made great progress from the morning Redcoat. Overnight the clocks got set back an hour so Sunday was a little confusing internal clock wise. 7 of the shooters returned for Sunday. A little warmer and slightly more overcast, we quickly reviewed the instructional material, confirmed zeros and launched into the AQT grind. By the end of the 6th AQT we were reaching the point of diminishing returns. 9mm4545 covered the KD presentation information. The storm clouds were rolling in as we shot the final redcoat. We took shelter under the covered area at the back of the range until the rain let up and we could return the range to a better condition than we found it.
Everyone showed great improvement. Two Riflemen were revealed. Claudio shot a 211 and a 212 - His first Appleseed and using open sights. Huzzah. Tom, at his third Appleseed, shot a 210 on the 2d AQT of the day and we were preparing the North Bridge baptism water, when he shot a 214. Huzzah. Tom completed the IIT0 Progress Check. and was presented his Orange Hat. Welcome to the program.
RamboGranny - with her locked leg brace out in front of her, from a wheelchair, shot a Rapid AQT and requalified. Perseverance. She said the issues to overcome gave her great insight to working with Adaptive shooters in the future. It was inspiring to see her lock one wheel on the chair for a pivot point and use the other wheel for coarse windage adjustments.
Pictures to follow.
My greatest appreciation to a great group of Instructors and a Blue Hat. 9mm4545, TomM1Thumb, rambo granny, Heavyduty77, Grunt, edree, MadScientist all made my job as Shoot Boss very easy. I greatly appreciate the efforts of each of you.
