A small but determined band of Patriots gathered at Slippery Rock Sportsman Club to test their mettle in a 100-yard RFKD. The sun scorched earth and marksman alike as temperatures climbed into the mid-90s. The range layout dictated that we use one target line and four firing lines, so we got a lot of healthy exercise.
We began with a review of the Three Challenges of a Rifleman, with special emphasis on trajectory and range estimation as they apply to rimfire shooting. The group discussed scoring, and agreed to post two RFKD targets, one for Stage 4, and one for the other three stages. This simplified scoring and saved time. Then we held a Safety Briefing and headed to the range. After a couple of AQTs it was time for lunch. During lunch we discussed BSZ, wind, and mirage. Then back to the firing line(s).
By the end of the day Hadaclue, Dedinger and Regnidettam all had fired multiple Rifleman scores, with highs of 50/50, 50/50 and 43/50 respectively. A total of five AQTs were completed.
Sunday arrived much cooler, due to some overnight rain and morning overcast. We began with a practical exercise in range estimation, then a Safety Briefing, and back to the AQTs. Joe left us at lunch, sadly heading home to New York without a Rifleman patch. Charles_McKinley took his place on the line, firing multiple Rifleman scores with a high of 47/50. At lunch we covered some History, including a comparison of Daniel Ferguson and Timothy Murphy. By about 2:15 we had completed seven AQTs, and Mother Nature decided to end the weekend with a deluge.

It was great working with everyone. Hopefully it will bring more people from NY to shoots in our area.
Congrats on your 22KD. The concepts for a 22KD are no different than our centerfire KD's and it is great that you had this event. Huzzah!!!
