Title: Ellijay, GA AAR, August 15, 2020

We had a wonderful inaugural event at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church range in Ellijay! In spite of the forecast of thunderstorms, eleven hardy souls arrived (including Pastor Dan who was only able to stay for a short time...but he shot well). This was a private event for church members only, but we have three more clinics scheduled at this range this year for the general public. Our heartfelt thanks to Pastor Jeff and the church for allowing us to use their range and their new beautiful event pavilion for Appleseed events. Fortunately, we had enough popups to keep us and our gear somewhat out of the worst of the intermittent downpours during the day. Kudos to all who attended and instructed for their endurance. What a great bunch of folks who kept a positive,  teachable attitude throughout the day!

Heather and Ralph, you did so well at your first Appleseed! We expect to see you both at many more.  Rhett and Justin, please come again when you are able to spend the full day to hear the full history stories and to experience the rest of the marksmanship instruction. John, you made us proud with your endurance. I know you can further develop your new skills at future clinics and add Project Appleseed to your list of marksmanship accomplishments. Nathan, sorry you had to sit out most of the afternoon due to a bad headache; please give us another try. Tommy, thanks for coming. You got a chance to get a flavor of the day. Sorry for the confusion; please come early next time to have the full experience. Coleman, we enjoyed your interest and enthusiasm.

To the pastors, Dan, Jeff and Bob, thanks so much for taking time from your busy schedules to observe and participate in this clinic. We hope your will spread the word that we are a family-friendly event that is not just about marksmanship. Our clinics may provide an outreach opportunity for both churches. Thanks to a great cadre of instructors who worked hard to move us along inspite of the drastic weather changes during the day. Hearing "Patrick Henry" by Morpheus is always impactful and inspiring. Roswell, thanks for wearing your "period dress" and informing and entertaining us with how a musket must be prepared for each and every shot. I apologize to you and wileycoyote for not recognizing your requalifications in front of the group. Huzzah!
