Chino Valley Az AAR Aug 15th, 2020 -- One day Appleseed
Weather: The heat was extreme. We expected 100 and got 109. The heat got progressively hotter throughout the day, which made for a very tough afternoon.
Cool thing to note we had a Soldier attending who was deploying for the first time.
This was a good group with good equipment.
We had a couple shooting together with well tested equipment and great groups. By mid-morning these two hit regular 5 or 6 MOA groups. It was consistent and one went on to hit a 206. I was saving a cold ice bath for his 210 but with the heat being so brutal it would have been a pleasure vs other.
We got an Orange hat from one of our past clinics. Yahoo!! And our Orange hat Jason (our only picture) comes to us with CMP rimfire Sporter Instructor experience, CMP match shooting experience and other accolades. Thank you, Jason, for stepping up it is good to have you on board. Your timing was perfect. I was praying for the day because of the pending heat and what I got was an Orange hat, go figure!
It also looks like we are getting a Blue hat from Florida, HA! Sorry for Florida good for Arizona. Welcome Mary. We are looking forward to your time with us.
We came prepared for the heat with easy ups and plenty of cold drinks. What we didn't know was the heat was going to climb from 68 in the morning to 109 when we closed the day. That was just BRUTAL!
The heat was brutal.
We had an odd issue with one take down 10/22 with tech sights.
It was extreme right with multiple adjustments, checking the sights for wobble, checking the students SHF and positions. He switched to a bolt action Ruger and did ok. The extreme nature of the right side was odd.
We had one student F class shooter working out the kinks of equipment and he did well.
We had two more students that did a great job. One soldier about to go on his deployment and a person stretching his rifle skill legs.
It was a great day I feel, we got:
One 206
One 199
One couple shooting 4MOA together
Three stretching the legs of their rifle skills
One going on deployment and wanted to spend a day with Appleseed
One new Orange hat
One new Blue Hat
And
The heat from 68 to 109 was brutal.
Cheers Everyone, Cya at the next seed.
Sounds like a good time; certainly productive!
