Title: Utica, SD Yankton Sharpshooters AAR July 18 & 19, 2020
Post by: Ames on July 20, 2020, 11:44:32 PM
We had an outstanding Appleseed Clinic at the Yankton Sharpshooters Range!  Eight hearty souls braved the heat on Saturday until we decided around 2pm that the 100+ degree heat index was getting ridiculous.  Folks returned the next day an hour early to spend the entire day on the range with much improved temperatures around the low to mid 80's.  The extra time allowed us to catch up and settle into the AQT grind right after lunch.

Congratulations to Stan (221) and Micah (216) for earning their rifleman patches!  Micah would re-qualify later in the afternoon and earn his distinguished rifleman patch.

I was genuinely impressed by everyone's persistence and focus.  Everyone improved their marksmanship, from the youngest to the oldest.

I always meet the nicest people at Appleseeds and this one was no different.  We had a great time discussing our countries history and our shared heritage.  Everyone seemed eager to return again to attend another Appleseed (but perhaps in a month with cooler temperatures.)   :)

I'm jealous; wish I could have been there. Sounds like you had a great time.

And you're right; Bob is a huge asset to the program in a part of the world where our footprint is small. Eight pre-registered shooters for a second shoot event would be a record-setter out where I am.

Kudos to our new Riflemen, and our new Distinguished shooter. And my hat's off to all of the shooters who kept their noses to the grindstone and showed improvement; Ames has a Rifleman patch waiting for you at your next Appleseed...keep snapping in!
