I get asked a lot about the "stuff" on the toes of my boots. Usually, it is something like "did your boots come like that?". They didn't. I wore a hole in my work-issued boots after about a year of use (mostly due to Project Appleseed). Since I am issued boots every two years, I had to do something about it. I found a product called KG's Boot Guard. It is kind of like Rhino Lining with added Kevlar.I put four coats on the toes and there is very little wear after a year of HARD use on the Appleseed trail. Be sure to apply in a well-ventilated area (preferably outdoors and follow the directions. I recommend using 4 wool applicators instead of using just the included one. You may find it at a local boot store. Amazon has it (remember to do donate to RWVA by choosing it on Amazon Smile). Last note, the brown and black look almost identical.
Thanks!
Update on this product. After probably 70+ shoots and a bunch of work events, the product is still protecting my boots. There is wear in a few areas (mostly on my support side toe...what I use to adjust NPOA).
Here is a picture I took today.
