The eighth annual Michigan IBC is officially in the history books.
Over the last 7 years we've had at least 40 instructors in attendance. We had exactly 40 preregs for this one, so I'm declaring the streak intact for an eighth year.
Appleseed instructors from all over Michigan (and beyond) converged on the Capital Area Sportsmen's League in Lansing, MI for a weekend of learning, fun, and camaraderie.
Friday evening saw a last-minute change from the usual medical training to a 1907 sling clinic, followed by a talk on NRA highpower/CMP presented by our Regional Coordinator, SteelThunder.
The official IBC started at exactly 8 AM Saturday morning, with 36 blue, orange red and gray hats. First up was the presentation of service pins - a total of 25 instructors receiving, 10, 25, 50 or 75-event pins. And a special shout-out to the ultimate workhorse, Graywolf, who received his 100-event pin!
We then got down to business. Breakout sessions included the safety briefing, prone, 6 steps, NPOA and IMC. Other modules included effective storytelling and the first and second strikes presented by Michigan's official history family - Graywolf, 3.Dogs, and Click.
Saturday wound down with talks by Rascal21 on Applecore, "TL" on LadySeed, and Maximum Ordinate. The activities ended with the last module on Rifle Familiarization, which ran through dinner. Special thanks to SteelThunder, who singlehandedly provided about 30 rifles for this exercise!
D.O.M. was a last-minute recruit to teach the medical module moved to Saturday evening, and did an excellent job teaching how to handle/respond to emergencies, as well as breaking down the items in an effective trauma kit.
Sunday started with a talk on using the forum and TIPS, then proceeded with a few more breakouts for the seated and standing positions. The rest of the morning was spent on a State of the State, State of the Region, Third Strike, and KD. After lunch we covered Troubleshooting (with a breakout), the elevator speech, DOMs and the Pistol Program. Day two wrapped up with closing comments and the Red Hat de-brief.
Thanks to everyone for coming out and giving us your precious weekend. Special thanks to Maximum Ordinate and Google for driving all the way from Alabama to join us.
Now that everyone's fired up - let's get going on making 2020 a great year!
The exit survey included a request for the instructors/students to grade the IBC on a scale of 1-10. Based on 18 responses, the average score was 9.38!!

What a great looking event! I'd love to come work with y'all sometime soon.
One question though, what's all that white stuff laying around on the ground outside? ???
See you on the line.
