Title: "April Morning" now on Amazon Prime
Post by: CarrollMS on November 16, 2019, 10:51:30 PM
The 1988 Hallmark movie "April Morning",  is on Amazon Prime movies.  I was very impressed with the story, uniforms, costumes, weapons, tactics, set, and with few exceptions the portrayal of known facts, etc..  Below is the summary from Rotten Tomatoes  Note the date it was originally telecasted... April 24th.
quote****************
"The morning invoked by the title of this made-for-TV drama is April 19, 1775. On that day, the "shot heard 'round the world" was fired, signalling the start of the American Revolution. Departing from known history, novelist Howard Fast (who wrote the book on which this film is based) proposes that the skirmish between the Colonial militia and the British troops on Concord Green, Massachusetts, was precipitated by fervent American patriot Solomon Chandler (Rip Torn). Later, Chandler commandeered guerilla raids against the British, activities which involved the film's main protagonist, 15-year-old Adam Cooper (Chad Lowe). Tommy Lee Jones, Robert Urich and Susan Blakely co-star in this Hallmark Hall of Fame presentation, originally telecast April 24, 1988."  https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/april_morning

I put this one on my WatchList and calendar to review annually. I note that others in the past have recommended this film, but I did not see where it was previously available for streaming

Amazon rotates their "freebie" list around periodically, so things that are "prime" now might not be later, but will be later again lol

Good movie, interesting theory postulated, and a good watch, even if some of the historical details are speculated.
