Right from the start this event had the feeling of something special. Mother Nature granted us a simply perfect weekend of weather while seven intrepid shooters challenged themselves by shooting full distance AQT's.
Saturday morning started out with our safety briefing, quick review of the Steady Hold Factors for all positions, and a review of the KD trajectory, come-ups and KD Strategies. We then brought our rifles and proceeded to gather data on our rifles, ammunition and sight adjustments at 100, 200, 300 and 400 yards.
We were able to shoot 1 full distance AQT before lunch and right out of the chute we were treated by Larry's amazing score of 249!! Larry has been to other Appleseed KD's but is striving for that 250 and just barely missed that goal with one shot in the 4 ring at 100 yards. As you can see in the picture, that one shot is oh so close to the 5 ring. Larry backed up his feat with scores of 246 and 242. Unfortunately, Larry couldn't return on Sunday in his quest for perfection. :'(
Not to be out done, Mark also scored his KD rocker on the first AQT with a solid score of 220 and backed that up with a score of 203 on his second AQT.
We were able to squeeze in one more AQT on Saturday afternoon and our own Ohio State Coordinator showed that he knew what he was about by shooting a score of 205 and earning the coveted KD rocker! Huzzah! Huzzah! Huzzah! ^:)^ As instructors we all know we don't get that many chances to shoot at an event and since Corvette has been running all of Ohio's KD events instead of being able to shoot them, it was an honor to be able to run the shoot so he could concentrate on getting KD qualified.
Sunday dawned with the same perfect weather granted to us the day before and before long we had another shooter who proved to know very well what he was about. Jim scored a 200 which earned him the baptism with North Bridge water. He then proceeded to show it was no fluke by scoring a 205.
Ken was close on his last AQT with a score of 192.
A special shout out to Darold who shot all of the AQT's with an M1 Garand.
Many thanks to Cactus Jack and Chevyshooter for assisting me at this event. Also thanks to Chevyshooter for proving all the fixin's for Saturday night's foil dinner. O0
Thanks also go out the Meeker Sportsman's Club for being such a gracious host and be a great supporter of Project Appleseed.

Perfect weather and great leadership from the AS team led to great results.
Larry is the man. He pounded the five ring all day Saturday. It was something to watch. I hope I am there when he shoots his perfect 250.
Corvette
Wow, sounds like a great time! I hope Larry was using his open sights again! Congrats! And, way to go corvette!
Congratulations to all!
Wish I didn't have schedule conflicts and could have joined the fun!
WOW! 249 is some mean shootin'. Love those full size KD targets (I've only seen the centers used up till now). It really looks like you had a fantastic event with a lot of KD Riflemen made. Congrats!
WOW! 249  Way to go Larry!
It was an awesome weekend with the best weather you could hope for. Congratulations to Corvette. Cadence did a terrific job as Shoot boss. It has me motivated to shoot at New Philly in November. And hats off to Chevy Shooter for an awesome dinner Saturday night. Perfect Weekend!!!!
