100 and 400 yards. It was swampy, but riflemen persist.

I'm signed up for a KD, 1-day at Racine July 20, and have a question.

How many rounds should I bring? The answer determines the caliber I bring.

Thank you.

you will likely not get more than 4 aqt and possibly some steel in for the day  25 for sight in just in case best to come sighted in, 160 for 4 aqt and some extra 250-300 would be a good number

but you may get a chance to play at 500 at the end of the day Shoot boss discretion we did in 2017 great weather for that one the range was closed in 2018 there has been the one KD so far in 2019.

you may want to bring both if you have ammo for both. a spare rifle in the car isn't a bad idea.

I brought 600 for 2 days I had about 100 left but I played a bunch at 500 , so satisfying to ring that 10 1/2 inch plate from back there.almost addicting the ring of steel can be.

bring what you can afford to bring , stage anything beyond 300 in your car , but once you enter the Racine range there is no leaving till the end of the day you are locked in and an instructor has to let you out . there is also not a good way to arrive late so be on time.

the road is kind of weird the gps may take you to the sheriffs range  , that is wrong ,take all the turns till the asphalt ends then drive along the railroad tracks on the gravel access road for about a mile and no speeding.

I might see you there, CatDoc.

CatDoc:
Round count may depend on what the shoot boss has planned. I recommend checking in with the shoot boss prior to the event with any questions or concerns. KDs can be very different depending on a number of variables.

Something else to be aware of, at Racine you will be lugging your rifle, ammo, and gear between the hundred yard lines (100-200-300-etc). You'll want to plan out how to make this easiest for yourself (I bring a stroller with gun mounts, others will sling a rifle over their shoulder, or carry a cased rifle).

Very helpful?

Last question, can a 250 patch be earned at a KD w correct targets?

This was my first KD.
I enjoyed the challenge of shooting at distance, and meeting everyone.
I look forward to doing another KD in the future.
