Saturday of the Memorial Day weekend dawned hot & humid for a Two-day Project Appleseed Rifle Marksmanship Clinic at Saltwaters Shooting Club, in St. Augustine, FL.
It was challenging as we were working through many gear issues, including several non-functioning rifles, and a Mossberg Blaze .22LR that was beyond sight adjustment limits. There were even some fire ants that joined the party! Even though it became quite hot, everyone stayed hydrated, and the progress from the Saturday AM Redcoat to the Saturday PM Redcoat was amazing! First-time shooter Miles had some very impressive groups. O0
Sunday dawned with pretty heavy fog that burned off quickly, returning us to a sunny & hot day... however never a complaint from our fantastic shooters! A Rifleman Persists! Ben K joined the Florida Rifleman list with a 214, backed up by a 225 (with irons!). Great shooting Ben. Two other shooters were knocking at the door, including Bill S, who's AR-15 got finicky late in the day.
All the shooters maintained a fantastic attitude, especially considering how hot it was (low 90s, very humid), huge improvements were made, students were engrossed in the history, and everybody had a lot of fun! Huzzah!
One of our instructors Edree, completed his Red Hat Progress Check, and became Florida's newest Red Hat instructor!
(Ed's new Red Hat was then properly baptised in North Bridge Water)
Thank you very much to our host range, Saltwaters Shooting Club. Check out their website http://www.saltwatersshootingclub.com/
And last but not least, many thanks to my fellow instructors, whose positive attitudes and professional demeanor made this a fun, safe, and successful shoot.
Thanks to Edree and Aninha.
