Title: Hernando, FL AAR - Apr. 27-28, 2019
Post by: PHenry on April 29, 2019, 03:57:46 PM
Holy Cow! What an event. This old shoot boss cannot recall the last time I worked such an event. 39 shooters in total across both days with nine instructors. We revealed four new Riflemen and saw significant improvement across the board. The Sea Cadets made their second appearance and what a great group they are. There were also several "repeat offenders" - we always love to see people come back again.

Rick made score with a 218 on Saturday and three more, including Alyssa made score on Sunday (lord forgive me - I failed to write down your names and scores - bad shoot boss, bad shoot boss). Hopefully when the picks are posted and with help from the most excellent instructors who were there, I can get all of you recognized proper.

It was supposed to rain all weekend, but as of Thursday, the weatherman changed his mind, blissfully unaware that it were in fact Lady Liberty who moved that rain to Friday. Huzaaah!

To all the students who spent their time, effort and treasure to come out and participate - many thanks. It bouys my soul to spend time with such great Americans. To the NINE instructors who traveled from all over the state to help an old, tired shoot boss out - God Bless each of you.

KawGirl took plenty pics and she'll get em up soon. It was a great weekend and while I am tired, my soul is refreshed.

In Liberty,
PHenry

Newly revealed Rifleman, Stu, here (221)! This weekend was my first experience with Appleseed after a failed attempt to attend a previous event. I went from my first redcoat target only scoring on the 100yd target Saturday morning, to nailing that 300 sucker at the end of Sunday (one shot off of the 400...ARGH) and had an absolute blast!

Many thanks to PHenry and the rest the instructors for taking a guy who'd previously only shot a rifle a handful of times without any proper instruction, and turning him into an effective shooter and proud bearer of the title of Rifleman! Shoutouts specifically to KawGirl, Big Country ( I think that was his forum name - Mark), and AJ for the personal attention and the encouragement they each gave me all weekend long.

Thanks, too, to my lane neighbors Bill, and Bill + Carol, and Jeremey for their tips and encouragements and fellowship!

Several times in my life I've learned and relearned the lesson that it doesn't matter how far or wide you travel, the most memorable and valuable experiences are due to the people you share them with and I was honored to share this weekend with all of you.

Take care, and I'll be seeing you again (with more friends that I'll be bringing)...though maybe after the weather cools off a bit. I'll bring a center fire next time and see if I can repeat.

-Stu
