I recently became aware of the Itarget Dry-fire training system while surfing YouTube. https://www.itargetpro.com/
This system consists of a sled, which is paper target holder and a vise to hold a smart phone, and a brass laser pointer "cartridge". These cartridges come in standard pistol calibers, and .223 rifle (sorry no .22 LR) and is activated by a firing pin strike. A free app, downloaded to the smartphone, will record "shots" on paper and score the target.
I recently purchased a setup for my 1911, and must say that I am impressed. Initial setup took all of 10 minutes, and I was dry-firing my 1911, and getting actual feedback showing where my "hits" would be. The app allows for these virtual targets to be saved.
On the plus side, this seems to have the potential for some very productive dry-fire training with feedback, as the result is a "talking target".
The cost is reasonable, at present about $90, which for me, represents about 5 boxes of .45 ACP training ammo. This seems like a great way
to sharpen skills, which can be done anywhere you can safely dry-fire practice. Ammo cost is zero.. and no cleaning is necessary..nor is there any need to drive to the range, and deal with weather, etc..
The downside, is that the shooter has to cycle the action after each shot, (or in the case of my 1911 reset the hammer), so rapid fire drills are not going to happen. Also, the "cartridge" has no rim and must be removed via a dowel or cleaning rod after each training session.
Since I have been impressed with this system for my CF handgun, I have purchased a .223 "cartridge" for use in my Mini-14, or AR for dry-fire practice with the rifle.
Has anyone else had experience with Itarget, or a similar system? And no, I am neither affiliated with, nor receive any compensation from Itarget..just figured I'd offer my $.02..
two possibly identical products:
iTarget
G-sight
Both with free apps.
Gsight cartridges are less expensive
iTarget software is more fully featured https://www.itargetpro.com/
I'm currently working with the 223 and 45Acp cartridges and using an older smart phone for the App.
The cartridge o-ring must be checked on removal from the firearm as it may roll out of its grove and come lose.
SIRT offers a drop in bolt for the AR so you don't have to reset the trigger.
They also have training software available. Glock 1911 worked on the sound production for it and offeres it from his site as well.
I dryfire train a lot with the laser ammo cartridges.
I got a kit that lets me use the same cartridge in my 9mm and my .45.

I use it in my DA/SA Sigs which I can shoot Double Action and not worry about cocking the hammer or resetting the striker.
It has a red piece that hangs out of the barrel so you can constantly visually confirm that the pistol isn't loaded.
I made my own targets combining the reflective targets in the kit with the targets we use at work.
If you hit the reflective target you get a bright flash, if you miss, you just see the red dot where you missed.
I like to dryfire while I'm moving, this makes it really challenging to hit that playing card size reflective target from across the room(7 yards).
I bought one of their electronic targets, but I don't care for it.
It's probably good for static drills, but I do enough of those at the range. I like to dryfire doing stuff I can't do at the range.
