Title: It looks like S&W has finally heard us
Post by: RedLeg on March 08, 2019, 06:47:19 PM
This hit my inbox late this afternoon.

Looks like S&W has finally decided to take action on its OOB discharges with the M&P 15-22!

I hadn't received the notice, although I have one.  Thanks for posting.

I think you mean they heard from a Large enough law firm from someone who was injured.  The way I have seen it viewed on other forums were we were blowing it out of proportion.  They only care about PR and how it affects the bottom line.

I recommend reading the information sent out carefully, as this appears to be related to a different symptom than what Appleseed reported.

The Scholastic Action Shooting Program, part of SSSF, has just prohibited them from matches and from practices, too. Another OB detonation (no injuries, thankfully).
Can't figure out how they're related, but the counterbore on the rifle's bolt-face was checked and passed with a S&W-supplied gauge before and after the incident. I believe the insufficient counterbore issue relates to uncontrolled firing until the magazine is empty, though; just the thing you want to hand a new-to-shooting 12-year old kid, eh.
