What a great weekend for Appleseed in Arkansas! Saturday morning started with temperatures in the high 30's with wind and rain! Even under such conditions, the Arkansas Cadre got things moving with the usual introductions, then on to instruction. We had six students and all were very attentive, the weather didn't seem to bother them a bit! I was impressed with everyone on hand for the event!
On Sunday, after some snow fell and the temperature dipped into the teens, we were right back at it, all students returned! More good instruction and shooting ensued, by the end of the day, four of the six students qualified as Riflemen, one was actually a re-qualification.
One of the students is a full time Air National Guard Master Sergeant, who happens to be the NCOIC of the base rifle team, he is also a Distinguished Rifleman with the CMP/NRA, which is the top qualification in High Power competition. Hopefully he will join the ranks as an Appleseed instructor! His daughter, who attended, qualified as Rifleman, very good shooting!
I was impressed by the "can do" attitude of everyone and the Appleseed Spirit displayed, I am again refreshed!
I re-qualified too. Looking forward to the next shoot!
It was maybe the best event I've attended to date. Lousy weather on day one and cold temps on day two could not put a damper on it. Great attitudes as well as marksmanship displayed by all. Looking forward to April's Appleseed in Hot Springs!
