Sometimes all of the stars align...
This Appleseed was outstanding. An extremely focused, hard working group that came with trainable attitudes. Add to that perfect fall weather (after a brief rain shower Sat. morning), and things just don't get any better. At one point, while I was observing the line during an AQT, every shooter made NPOA shifts as if choreographed. It was a sight to behold.
We ended up with two new riflemen, and one re-qualification. One first time rifleman (Jim) shot a 239 - yes, you read that right! - Full disclosure moment - Jim has been working with a couple of Appleseeders for months, one of whom was on the Army Markmanship Team. Emile shot 220, and Derek re-qualified with 215. However, every other shooter was knocking on the door on Sunday. I'm sure they'll all get their rifleman patches next time.
SOG joined us as a new orange hat. He and his son have been regulars at Ramseur for the last year. We're lucky to have SOG join us, and I'm sure his son will do the same soon.
As always, I had great support from Henry Foxall, Rimbo, Bad Eye, and Mother Batherick. Thank you all for your help. Bad Eye did his sling, position demos, six steps for the first time, and he did a tremendous job!
