We just completed another good day of marksmanship at VETS today. We shot rifles, shotguns and pistols today, didn't shoot as much KD, but since we are proficient at KD with our battle rifles, we decided to include some short range shooting too.
First, I did visit the long steel range to confirm some zero's from 300 to 500 yards with a newly scoped M14. I can say that the rifle/scope is well zero'd and is ready for duty now. Ringing the steel at 500 with a fine American battle rifle is truly satisfying!
Next, I met Arceagle14 on the 100 yard line for pistol and shotgun practice. Shooting our sidearms first at 25, then at 50 proved we are capable at those distances. Our targets were the "Shoot N See" six inchers. At 25 yards, full magazines fired indicated all hits more times than not. At 50, even though not all hits in the sighter, all rounds were in the "A" zone backer. I fired an H&K USP Expert, Arceagle14 fired his 1911.
Shotgun time, what can I say? The 12 gauge shotgun with buck or slug is truly devastating, we shot these at 25 and 50 too. Shooting an old Winchester 1300 with rifle sights, the shotgun shot slugs with excellent accuracy, buckshot was a good pattern. Arceagle14 fired his Benelli's with pretty much the same results!
We try to meet up most Fridays for practice, if anyone wants to join up, let us know, we are always ready for KD or even reduced course AQT's! If you need help with improving your Rifleman skills, we will be glad to assist you.
A few pictures.
That some terrible form pistol shooting on my part, but the only way I can see my sights, wait till I get some new glasses then I'll wear out that 50 yard target.
Arceagle14, looked like you shot pretty well to me!
