Title: Good Customer service
Post by: The Wolfhound on August 01, 2018, 11:32:08 PM
One of our Simmons scopes that has been on the Appleseed trail and on Dangerous Cook's Mossberg 702 Plinkster finally gave up the ghost.  I believe in loaner duty it is responsible for salvaging the day for at least 9 Riflemen.  I has been to at least 50 shoots.  As we know Appleseed is tough on equipment.  The scope was no longer adjusting for windage.  Upon reviewing the warranty info for the scope, I returned it to the parent company, Vista Outdoors, in Kansas City with a check for return shipping and an explanation of the problem.   About 3 weeks later a replacement showed up at the door.  I was not sure how much the warranty would be worth on an inexpensive scope but I am quite favorably impressed.  I have not been compensated for this endorsement but I very happy they replaced the scope!  Having purchased several other Simmons for other Appleseed rifles, I feel even better about my choice.  They stood behind their product!

I had the same with a Bushnell. I had it on my 700 for 20+ years. Dropped down the mountain twice tipped over in a canoe once. Sat on, bumped bashed and probably bitten. Bot a new one. For grins I sent the old one back to them with a note saying it didn't work and my address. No return postage money. 2 weeks later I got it back. Works like new. Lives on my 10/22. Made a lot of riflemen.

I can say good things about many shooting sports companies. NA arms repaired the muzzle of a pistol I dropped for free. Gave me the updated cylinder too.

Busted a Lee Autoprim after 40 years. Sent it in and they sent a new one out.

Bushnell is also one of Vista Outdoors product lines.  The warranty requirements are slightly different in that no shipping payment is required.  I buggered up a brand-new Bushnell (over rotated an axis) and returned it with the Simmons I told about above.  The replacement came back with the Simmons the same day.  I have been happy with another Bushnell scope that I placed on my .300 Win Mag in 1977.  No issues with it at all.  Yeah, I am that old.

I've found the Simmons scopes to be of the "getting more than you paid for" variety. They're a pretty darn solid budget optic, and I own several of them. Glad to know their warranty isn't just lip service!

It seems every used rifle I buy has a Simmons on it. I have become an optics snob, and really have nothing good to say about budget optics- that said, as much as I want to hate Simmons, darn it if every one hasn't performed flawless for me. I took one off of a 30-06, and put it on an AK-47, the ultimate scope killer, and its been perfect. I have yet to have one legitimate complaint about any of them.
